Proprietary Data

Most of what you see on Stockatomics exists nowhere else. We build it ourselves from primary sources, such as official trade data, government statistics and companies' own filings, and turn it into prices, scores and links you can compare across every mineral and company.

What we build

  • Benchmark prices: a monthly US price per kg contained for every critical mineral, built from official US trade data, so it reflects what actually changed hands rather than quotes or offers.
  • Supply Elasticity Score (SES): how hard it is for a mineral's supply to respond when demand rises, scored from five factors.
  • Supply concentration: how few countries hold world mine and refining output.
  • Demand momentum: the demand growth each mineral inherits from the sectors that use it.
  • Company exposure (CMCS): how much of a listed company's output is in minerals whose supply is constrained, concentrated and in rising demand, together with mineral exposure and supply leverage.
  • Company and mineral links: which listed companies produce which minerals, and each company's share of world output.
  • Sector demand: how each mineral's demand splits across sectors, the implied value of that demand and how it could grow.
  • Stock against mineral performance: how each linked stock has performed against its mineral's benchmark price.

How we build it

  • Primary sources first. We work from the original publications, including government statistics, official trade records and company filings, rather than third-party summaries.
  • Reported, never estimated. A company's output counts only when it is disclosed in its own filings, and every link records the document, page and quote it comes from.
  • One method for everything. Every mineral and every company is measured the same way, so a reading for gallium can be set beside one for copper.
  • Consistent units. Prices are in US dollars per kg contained, and tonnages in contained tonnes, wherever they appear.
  • Honest dates. Every price carries the month it describes and is never presented as fresher than it is.
  • Open methods. Our research pages explain how every price and score is built. What stays in the Terminal are the readings themselves.

Why it matters

Physical constraints often move prices before markets take notice. When supply is slow to respond, concentrated in a few countries and facing fast-growing demand, the pressure shows up first in the materials and only later in the companies that produce them. Data that is consistent across every mineral and company makes those pressure points visible, as well as which listed companies stand to be affected.
