Arsenic has risen +62.7% in the past month.
Over the past 12 months it has ranged from $0.76 to $2.67 per kg contained.
Over one year the price has changed −15.0%, and over five years −26.2%.
Arsenic (As) is better known as a poison, yet high-purity arsenic metal is a building block of gallium arsenide, the compound semiconductor behind radio-frequency chips in phones, satellites and radar, as well as many lasers and LEDs. Most arsenic, though, is consumed as arsenic trioxide, historically in wood preservatives and still in some lead alloys for batteries and ammunition.
Arsenic is almost entirely a by-product, recovered from copper, gold and lead smelting rather than mined for its own sake, so supply depends on what smelters choose to capture. Demand is split between a large, low-value market for arsenic trioxide and a tiny, high-value market for the ultra-pure metal used in gallium arsenide chips. Environmental rules weigh on both: arsenic is toxic, and handling it is costly.
Arsenic has been one of the quieter minor metals: supply comes as a smelting by-product, and demand for its main forms is mature. The more interesting price is for high-purity arsenic metal, whose fortunes follow gallium arsenide chip demand and Chinese supply, the dominant source of the metal.
As of October 2026, the Stockatomics benchmark price for arsenic is $1.23 per kg contained.
Arsenic is recovered at smelters rather than mined for its own sake. China and Morocco produce most of the world's arsenic trioxide, and China also supplies most of the high-purity arsenic metal used in electronics. The United States produces no arsenic and relies entirely on imports.
Arsenic is on the US critical minerals list and the EU critical raw materials list. Its high-purity form is essential to gallium arsenide semiconductors used in defence and communications, supply is a by-product concentrated in China and Morocco, and the United States produces none of it.
Stockatomics publishes a monthly US benchmark price for arsenic in US dollars per kg contained, reading as of October 2026. The figure is a price per kg of contained arsenic. It is not a price for gallium arsenide wafers or for arsenic trioxide as such.

The Stockatomics US benchmark price of arsenic is $1.23 per kg contained as of October 2026. Stockatomics updates it every month.
High-purity arsenic is combined with gallium to make gallium arsenide, a semiconductor used in phone radio chips, satellite solar cells, radar, lasers and LEDs.
It is recovered as a by-product of smelting copper, gold and lead ores, mainly in China and Morocco.
No. It imports all of its arsenic, mostly arsenic metal from China and arsenic trioxide from Morocco and elsewhere.
