Americas Gold and Silver is a precious metals miner headquartered in Toronto, with its main operation at the Galena Complex in Idaho's Silver Valley, a district that has produced silver for well over a century. Alongside its Cosalá operations in Mexico, the company has increasingly positioned itself as a domestic source of antimony, recovered from Galena's silver-copper-antimony ore at a time when the US imports almost all the antimony it uses.
Silver is Americas Gold and Silver's main product, with lead and zinc recovered alongside. Its most distinctive critical mineral is antimony: the Galena ore carries tetrahedrite, a mineral rich in silver, copper and antimony, and the company has been working to recover that antimony for US buyers. Antimony goes into flame retardants, lead-acid batteries and ammunition, and the US has almost no domestic mine supply of its own.
The Galena Complex near Wallace, Idaho, is the centre of Americas Gold and Silver's business, a deep underground silver mine in the Coeur d'Alene mining district. In Mexico, its Cosalá operations in Sinaloa have produced silver, zinc and lead from several deposits.
