Boss Energy is an Australian uranium producer based in Perth. It restarted the Honeymoon project in South Australia, a deposit mined by in-situ recovery, where uranium is dissolved underground and pumped to the surface instead of being dug out. A share of the Alta Mesa operation in Texas gives Boss a foothold in the United States as well.
Uranium is Boss Energy's only critical mineral. It produces it by in-situ recovery at Honeymoon, circulating a mild solution through the ore underground and recovering uranium from the liquid that returns, a method with a far smaller surface footprint than open-pit mining. The uranium is sold to nuclear power utilities, whose fuel needs are growing as countries extend reactor lives and plan new plants.
Honeymoon lies in South Australia, roughly 80 kilometres north-west of Broken Hill, and produces uranium through in-situ recovery wells and a processing plant on site. Boss Energy also holds an interest in Alta Mesa in South Texas, operated by enCore Energy.
