Sibanye-Stillwater is a Johannesburg-based precious metals group and one of the world's largest producers of platinum, palladium and rhodium. It mines platinum group metals in South Africa's Bushveld Complex and in Montana, alongside gold mines in South Africa, and it has built up recycling and battery metals interests in Europe and the United States.
Sibanye-Stillwater is linked to six critical minerals. Platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium and ruthenium all come from its platinum group metals mines in South Africa and Montana, while chromium is recovered from the chromite in its South African ore. Its Montana mines are the only US producers of primary platinum group metals, which matters for catalytic converters, hydrogen technology and electronics.
Sibanye-Stillwater's platinum group metals mines are Marikana, Rustenburg and Kroondal in South Africa's Bushveld Complex, together with Stillwater and East Boulder in Montana, processed at Columbus. Its gold mines are in the Witwatersrand Basin, and it develops the Keliber lithium project in Finland.
