Southern Copper is one of the largest copper miners in the world, majority-owned by Grupo México and headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. It holds some of the largest copper reserves of any listed company, with mines and smelters in Peru and Mexico that also produce molybdenum, zinc and silver.
Copper is Southern Copper's critical mineral, produced at Toquepala and Cuajone in Peru and at Buenavista and La Caridad in Mexico. Its integrated smelters and refineries in both countries turn concentrate into cathode, and its large reserves give it decades of production ahead, with the Tía María project in Peru as the next major addition.
Southern Copper's Peruvian mines, Toquepala and Cuajone, sit in the country's south, with a smelter and refinery at Ilo. In Mexico it runs Buenavista and La Caridad in Sonora, along with smelters and refineries nearby.
